on a Protected Campus â€‹to Serve Our Community's Children

Utilitarian classroom and desks are out!  So what's in?  Find a welcoming and comfortable, kid-friendly place to kick up your feet and explore a superior curriculum.  All of our teachers have advanced degrees, a variety of certifications and decades of experience.

We are the learning partners you are looking for! By providing learning experiences for your student, we do the heavy lifting for you and you maintain control of your child's learning pathway!

  • Make the most of each learning day with ability-based placement instead of birthdate-based grade placement.

  • Get inspired in our studio classrooms, thematic learning makerspace, lounge play spaces, gardens and screened patio.

  • We lean away from worksheets and computer-based learning and instead get moving and keep our hands engaged!

  • In our thematic class, a mentor teacher will take the skills that the children are practicing in their small groups and get the kids excited to practice the skills they are learning.

  • Monthly themes will expand learning based on interests and incorporate arts, crafts, creative/critical thinking, STEM, and more.

  • We embrace 21st Century Learning and include soft skills such as communication and collaboration that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

  • 6th grade is conducted as a transitional year.  They will experience ELA and Math with a transition from teacher supported to more independant learning.

"There aren’t words to really describe how great Advanced Academics has been for (Son). (Son) has always struggled it seemed with holding onto what he was learning. Homeschool was a challenge and we began to feel overwhelmed like we couldn’t help him the way he needed. In just one year at Advanced Academics he has improved by leaps and bounds! It is almost hard to believe that just a year ago he was struggling to read three letter words. Now we have a boy who reads to us and himself at night. A boy who can’t wait to tell us about what he was reading in school, what math he is doing. (Son) has truly begun to thrive as a learner and we are overwhelmed with joy for him. To see him take pride in something that was such a challenge has been one of the most rewarding experiences as an adult. He has always had a heart of gold and Advanced Academics has really allowed that light to shine. The teachers and staff have given him an environment that has brought out the best in him and we are so blessed to watch the journey. We are so excited to continue to watch him grow and learn as he continues to progress.”

Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten program teaches the skills our early learning students need to be successful with and enjoy learning.  We use standards that are more robust than required by Georgia or Common Core and include elements such as social and emotional intelligence  and  creative thinking and expression, all using the strategy of learning through play. Students whom excell are eligible to move into advanced placements once reading or math skills are mastered.

K - 6th 26-27

We are flipping part of our day! Our specials will come first. Research tells us that they are crucial for holistic student development, fostering creativity, physical health, and emotional growth. We are going to wake up our brains and bodies with music, art, technology and life skills Mondays through Thursdays. Each month we will have a new set of Practical Skill Workshops. The students will be able to sign up for classes like woodworking, robotics, stock market games, pet care and training, home economics, yoga and more! During guided reading, our teachers lead lessons to build skills and close gaps to grow each student. In reading each student is tested to find their just-right reading level, where gaps can be closed and new skills can be taught. We use these reading levels to place them into our studio classes where they receive small group instruction. Our teacher's focus each child's lessons based on the running record report and skills applicable to that level. During our read aloud time, our teacher guides students using mentor texts to practice standards relating to literature. Students practice the skills being taught in their guided reading groups as well as other standards such as inferring, character analysis, vocabulary development, identifying key details and evaluating the texts. Language Arts...Phonics and English are taught to ensure that students have the language skills they need to be effective readers and writers. Our activities are differentiated for students working with skill acquisition through the second-grade level and for third and up as they grow and expand their abilities. Writing and Handwriting (both print and cursive) is approached through variations of two main goals: production of writing with skills and practicing writing with ideas and organization in mind. Students working with reading levels Pre-A through M will refine Zaner-Bloser (ball and stick print) handwriting. Upper students will be taught cursive and transition into the frequency of use. In Guided Math each student is pre-tested in our math strands. This is for placement in their small groups and to ensure that we close gaps before presenting new material. As we spend a month on each strand, this allows us to close gaps, teach their "grade level" standards and move on into other levels that they are ready for. It is not uncommon for a student to have a few gaps from prior grades, tackle their own new material and then do advanced content within the month. Science and Social Studies We use a standards-based, immersive curriculum that takes your students deeper through primary sources paired with a robust, interactive experience. Our hands-on Science curriculum gets your students exploring and evaluating their world. Our Social Studies curriculum gets your students deeper into history and integrates with language arts. Both are based on Georgia grade level standards to ensure that your child covers the goals for each grade level. In our thematic time class, the teacher's role is more of mentorship as the students practice skills from their core classes. It may be support when they need to try a strategy or two, or when it's time to give a student opportunities to try new things that may be challenging. Activities will include opportunities in critical thinking, problem/project based learning and STEM-typed activities. Choose Full Day or Homeschooler's Half Day Our core program is based on customized placement and includes reading, language arts, writing, math and thematics. Monday - Friday. Lunches need to be brought daily for full day students. Hesitant? We offer a shadow day for you and your child to experience the benefits of what having Advanced Academics as learning partners is like. If you are interested in speaking with the parents of current students, let us know and we will make that connection!

“We first learned about Advanced Academics Academy in 2022 when we were looking for a summer camp for (Son), who was homeschooled at that time. Though he was doing well educationally, we really wanted him to have more social interactions with kids his own age and to have more experiences outside of the house while COVID safety measures were still in full force. He attended several weeks of Turtle Creek Camp and absolutely loved it - so much so that we enrolled him for the next school year.

During his time at Advanced Academics Academy, (Son) has made huge strides in his learning and socialization. The experience-based learning structure provided at this institution has sparked his imagination and curiosity in ways that his ways that his brief time with public school did not, and the lower student to teacher ratio has allowed him to receive much more individualized instruction, helping him excel in subjects (he) has a strong grasp on while keeping him up to speed in areas he needs a little more help with. The strong focus on movement and activity throughout the day has been so very important for him as a child with ADHD to help him manage his impulses and energy levels to help him maintain concentration during classroom time.

Most of all, (Son) absolutely loves coming to school, and we feel that his enthusiasm for learning that to Advanced Academics Academy will provide him with a strong base to succeed throughout his academic career.”
